Once you have kids life can get pretty crazy and busy with work, taking care of the house and the kids, you often forget about taking care of yourself. I know this first hand, once I had my first daughter I was more focused on her and not myself. My health and fitness was put on the back burner for when I "had Time" which is totally the wrong way of doing things. I should have just involved her in my workouts or you know take some kid free time, haha I know kid free time I am craaazy right! ----But it's true us mom and dads need to stop focusing only on our children’s health and focus on ourselves as well. If we are not healthy how are we supposed take care of our children and set an example for our children to want to be healthy to! Below are some great tips that have helped me create healthy habits and can defiantly help you get started on yourself!
1. Make YOU a priority: Your kids will still love and the word will not come to an end if you leave them with dad or a sitter for an hour while you go for a work out, a bath or a coffee! You need to make yourself and your health a priority to!
2. Create a Schedule: I have always been a schedule person. I like making lists of things for me to do – because the feeling of crossing it off the list is heaven! Sometimes I even put "take a shower or "get dressed" on my Daily Things To Do List, just because I want to have the pleasure of checking it off the list! I actually also have alarms set on my phone for when it's time to eat because I often get so caught up with life, I forget to eat! Create a workout schedule that works for YOU! For me it's waking up before the kids and getting my workout done and out of the way leaving less time for excuses! PLUS there is just something so peaceful about waking up before the hustle and bustle of the family morning parade and having a little me time!

3. Food Prep: OMG food prep I think is one of the most important aspects of creating healthy habits. Weight loss and being healthy begin in the Kitchen, working out on the regular basis will not get you far if you are not fueling your body the proper way. To help you succeed in eating healthy, prepping for the week will help you stay on track and away from the fast food or order out menu. And I don't mean hours and hours in the kitchen either, a few changes here and there will make life so much easier. ---- For me I like to prep a few things on Sunday nights to help me keep it simple during the week below is a list of my main food prep things I like to do, sometimes I do more sometimes I do less it's all about how I am feeling that day

> Cut up fruit and veggies for and easy to grab snack or for use with a meal or salads
> Separate raw meat into single serve freezer bags ( I like to do this to avoid making too much, and then wanting to eat it! haha) > Grill up some seasoned chicken for lunches or Slow cook a whole chicken ---Freeze the carcass for soup next week ;)
> Boil a flat of eggs (Great for snacks, lunches, salads etc. my kids love em!)
> Make a loaf of bread

> Make a pot of spaghetti sauce or chilli to freeze (Depending on the size you make, you can make it last for weeks)
> I like to also look up a clean eating freezer meals and whip up 1 or 2 (my go to is teriyaki stir fry or chicken you make the sauce and freeze it along with your meat and veggies for a quick week night meal)
** If I am feeling it I will whip up a batch of turkey burger patties and freeze them
Find what works for you, my style of food prep might not be your thing BUT experiment and find what will help you during the week!
4. Find an accountability partner: Having an accountability partner to check in with every few days or on a weekly basis is great way to keep yourself motivated when you are feeling lazy. ---- My accountability partner is my up line coach in my coaching business, without her, I’m pretty sure I would have fallen off the wagon and never gotten back on. She’s amazing! Ideally, you should find someone who has similar goals as you do so you can keep each other on track. Starting your own Fit Group or joining a Fit Group on Facebook can also help you stay accountable and maybe help you find your accountability partner. Looking for a fit group to join? You can join mine here! Also helping others while you help yourself is a good way to stay on track, my clients are truly my inspiration to keep pushing forward! 5. Figure out your "WHY", knowing your why will help you stay on track and stay focused on your goals! My WHY is: I want to feel amazing in my own body again. I want to be healthy to be around longer for my kids and to set an example for my girls to love, respect and to take care of their bodies the healthy way! Determine "WHY" you want to do it, write it down and put it somewhere that you will see it on a daily basis to remind you why you are on this journey!
I hope that these 5 tips have helped you figure out that you CAN create healthy habits and be a busy mom or dad, all it takes it a few little changes here and there to find your perfect medium between life and health!
